Silencer Co Improved Modified choke tube.
A choke is a short constriction at the muzzle end of a shotgun barrel. Narrowing the bore by a few thousandths of an inch slows how quickly the shot column opens, so the same gun and the same shell can throw a tight pattern or a wide one depending on which tube is fitted.
Improved Modified sits between modified and full – tighter than most general-purpose work, short of the tightest.
This tube is cut for the Invector thread system. Choke threads are not standard across makers – Invector, Invector-Plus, Beretta/Benelli Mobil, Optima, Rem Choke and Accu-Choke are all different – so the system has to match what is cut into your barrel. It is the commonest way people buy a choke that will not fit.
Patterns vary between guns, loads and shot sizes. The only way to know what a given choke does with the ammunition you shoot is to pattern it on paper at the distance you intend to use it.
