The Proof Research Elevation MTR is a bolt action in .223 REM/5.56 NATO with a 16.5" barrel, a 1:8 twist and 4-round capacity plus one chambered.
A carbine-length barrel keeps the rifle maneuverable, trading some velocity for handling. That is the standard twist for this cartridge, and it stabilizes the bullet weights most factory ammunition is loaded with.
The .223 REM is commonly chosen for varmints, predators and target work. Cheap, widely available and light on recoil, which makes it an easy cartridge to shoot well.
