Description
The Rugged Suppressors 3 Port Brake is a muzzle brake for 338CAL, threaded 3/4"-24 tpi.
A muzzle brake redirects escaping gas sideways and rearwards to push back against recoil and muzzle rise. The gas it redirects has to go somewhere, so a brake makes the rifle louder and sharper for anyone standing beside it.
This part is threaded 3/4"-24 tpi, which is found on larger-bore and .338 class barrels. Thread pitch has to match exactly – a near miss either will not start or will cross-thread, and a damaged barrel thread is a gunsmithing job.
A muzzle device fitted to bring a short barrel up to the legal 16 inches only counts if it is permanently attached – pinned and welded, or silver-soldered. Simply screwing one on does not change the barrel's measured length.
