Description
The Alpine MDT Carbon is built on Weatherby's bolt action rifle platform, the Model 307. The Model 307 action is a 2-lug, fully cylindrical action compatible with many aftermarket accessories.
The stock chassis system features v-block bedding, adjustable length of pull, adjustable comb and AICS magazine compatibility. The chassis is constructed of a magnesium alloy stock, carbon fiber forend, carbon fiber pistol grip and carbon fiber buttstock. The forend has an integral ARCA rail for easy attachment to a tripod, and the buttstock folds for compact storage.
The barrel is a BSF carbon barrel and comes with Weatherby's Accubrake DST, a directional self-timing brake. An ARCA rail is the dovetail standard most tripod heads clamp to directly, so no separate adapter is needed; AICS is the magazine pattern most precision-rifle magazines are made to.
This one is chambered in .22 Creedmoor with an 18" barrel, a 1:8 twist and a capacity of 3 rounds plus one chambered. This barrel length is a common compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge's velocity while staying manageable to carry. Twist rate determines which bullet weights stabilize: a faster twist favors heavier, longer projectiles.
The barrel length stated is the barrel itself – the Accubrake adds roughly 2" to the overall length.
