The Allen Company Thermal Target Paste-on is a paper target.
A paper target gives a visible, repeatable aiming point and a record of where the shots went.
A high-contrast or splatter-style face marks each hit with a bright ring, which is what lets you see impacts from the firing line without walking down to the target or reaching for a spotting scope.
Grid backing makes scope adjustment arithmetic simple: count the squares from the group to the aiming point and convert to clicks.
