Description
The Ruger / Sturm, Ruger & Co. American Rifle Ranch is a bolt action rifle in .223 REM/5.56 NATO with a 16.1" barrel, a 1:8 twist and 10-round capacity.
At this length it is easier to work in thick cover or from a blind, trading some velocity for the handling. That is the standard twist for this cartridge, and it stabilizes the bullet weights most factory ammunition is loaded with. It comes picatinny scope base installed, so it is ready to take an optic without extra machining.
The .223 REM is commonly chosen for varmints, predators and target work. Cheap, widely available and light on recoil, which makes it an easy cartridge to shoot well.
