Description
The Connecticut Valley Arms / CVA Cascade is a bolt action rifle in .35 Whelen with a 22" barrel, a 1:14 twist and 3-round capacity plus one chambered.
This barrel length is the usual compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge's velocity while still being manageable to carry all day, and short enough that a suppressor on the end does not make it unwieldy. Twist rate determines which bullet weights stabilize: a faster twist favors heavier, longer projectiles.
A bolt action locks the cartridge up rigidly and repeatably, which is what makes it the accurate choice for hunting and target work – there is no gas system or reciprocating carrier moving while the shot breaks.
