Description
The Winchester M70 Featherwgt Compact is a bolt action rifle in 7mm-08 REMINGTON with a 20" barrel, a 1:9.5 twist and 5-round capacity plus one chambered.
This barrel length is a common compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge's velocity while staying manageable to carry. That is the standard twist for this cartridge, and it stabilizes the bullet weights most factory ammunition is loaded with. It comes drilled & tapped, so it is ready to take an optic without extra machining.
The 7mm-08 REMINGTON is commonly chosen for deer-sized game. Mild recoil for its capability, which is why it is often recommended to new hunters.
