Description
The Connecticut Valley Arms / CVA Cascade is a bolt action rifle in .450 Bushmaster with a 22" barrel, a 1:24 twist and 2-round capacity plus one chambered.
This barrel length is the usual compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge's velocity while still being manageable to carry all day, and short enough that a suppressor on the end does not make it unwieldy. Twist rate determines which bullet weights stabilize: a faster twist favors heavier, longer projectiles. It ships without iron sights, so plan on an optic and a way to mount it: a red dot or holographic sits on a rail, a scope needs rings and a base, and a rifle with neither needs a mount first.
The .450 Bushmaster is commonly chosen for deer hunting in straight-wall cartridge states. These exist to satisfy regulations that prohibit bottleneck rifle cartridges for deer.
The bolt design incorporates a 70 degree throw for smooth and fast operation, plus generous scope clearance. The two-position safety is located for natural and instantaneous operation. The synthetic stock is fiber-glass reinforced and has a SoftTouch finish for easy gripping. The buttstock has adjustable length of pull by way of a removable spacer making it an ideal gun for still growing youths, small statured adults or the full-sized hunter. Dual front swivel studs allow for the use of both a sling and a bi-pod at the same time.
