The Weatherby Wthby 307 Range is a bolt action rifle in .257 Weatherby Magnum with a 26" barrel, a 1:10 twist and 5-round capacity plus one chambered.
A long barrel gives the cartridge room to build velocity, at the cost of handling in tight spaces and some added weight. That is the standard twist for this cartridge, and it stabilizes the bullet weights most factory ammunition is loaded with. It ships without iron sights, so plan on an optic and a way to mount it: a red dot or holographic sits on a rail, a scope needs rings and a base, and a rifle with neither needs a mount first.
A bolt action locks the cartridge up rigidly and repeatably, which is what makes it the accurate choice for hunting and target work – there is no gas system or reciprocating carrier moving while the shot breaks.
The Model 307 Range XP bolt action that was designed to have a tool-less disassembly which allows hunters and shooters to easily field strip their bolt if needed. The bolt is equipped with an M16 style extractor for positive extraction and reliable ejection. The Range SF comes standard with an externally adjustable TriggerTech Field trigger; Accubrake; fluted barrel; Magpul removable magazine and is compatible with AICS magazines; lightweight vertical grip stock with an adjustable cheekpiece and adjustable length of pull; touch points are textured for a non slip grip and dual front swivel studs allow for multiple accessories. *Note- barrel length is 26" + 2" for Accubrake.
