Description
The Savage 93R17F is a bolt action rifle in .17 HMR with a 21" barrel, a 1:9 twist and 5-round capacity.
This is a conventional rimfire barrel length. Rimfire powder is fully burnt well before the muzzle, so extra length adds sight radius and weight rather than velocity. That is the standard twist for this cartridge, and it stabilizes the bullet weights most factory ammunition is loaded with. It comes drilled & tapped, so it is ready to take an optic without extra machining.
The .17 HMR is commonly chosen for small game and varmints at extended range. It carries a rimfire out to roughly 200 yards with a very flat trajectory, though the light bullet is easily pushed by wind.
