The Winchester Xpr is a bolt action in .300 Winchester Short Magnum (WSM) with a 24" barrel, a 1:8 twist and 3-round capacity.
A long barrel gives the cartridge room to build velocity, at the cost of handling in tight spaces and some added weight. That is faster than the usual twist for this cartridge, which suits the heavier, longer bullets distance shooters tend to favor. It ships without iron sights, so budget for an optic, rings and a base if you do not already have them.
The .300 Winchester Short Magnum (WSM) is commonly chosen for elk, large game and long-range work. Significant energy at distance, and significant recoil with it.
