The Winchester Repeating Arms Xpr Extreme is a bolt action in .223 REM/5.56 NATO with a 22" barrel, a 1:8 twist and 5-round capacity plus one chambered.
This barrel length is a common compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge's velocity while staying manageable to carry. That is the standard twist for this cartridge, and it stabilizes the bullet weights most factory ammunition is loaded with.
The .223 REM is commonly chosen for varmints, predators and target work. Cheap, widely available and light on recoil, which makes it an easy cartridge to shoot well.
