The Savage B22 is a bolt action in .22 Magnum with an 18" barrel, a 1:16 twist and 10-round capacity plus one chambered.
Rimfire velocity peaks in the high teens of barrel length, so a barrel this short gives up very little and keeps the rifle light and quick to handle. Twist rate determines which bullet weights stabilize: a faster twist favors heavier, longer projectiles. It ships without iron sights, so budget for an optic, rings and a base if you do not already have them.
The .22 Magnum is commonly chosen for small game and varmints. It bridges the gap between .22 LR and a centerfire varmint round.
