The Tikka T1X is a bolt action in .17 HM2 with a 16" barrel, a 1:9 twist and 10-round capacity.
A carbine-length barrel keeps the rifle maneuverable, trading some velocity for handling. That is the standard twist for this cartridge, and it stabilizes the bullet weights most factory ammunition is loaded with. It ships without iron sights, so budget for an optic, rings and a base if you do not already have them.
Bolt actions are commonly chosen for hunting and target shooting, where the simpler mechanism and rigid lockup are valued.

Tikka takes the popular T1x platform to the next level with the T1x UPR. One of the most notable upgrades is its stock, which features a full fiberglass construction with carbon fiber bedding on the surface. This increases the rigidity of the stock, which in turn increases the accuracy. This precision-style stock also utilizes a vertical grip for greater ergonomics when shooting from a prone position. Cheek height and length of pull can be adjusted to fit virtually any shooter, and a rough texturing ensures a superior grip even in adverse conditions. In addition, the T1x features a cold hammer forged barrel with a cross-over profile that provides the stability of a heavy barrel but doesn't add noticeable weight.
