The Kershaw 8710 Antic folder features a 1.70" 8Cr13MoV stainless blade, clip point, plain edge, stainless handle, blue finish.
The blade is 8Cr13MoV SS, a budget-friendly Chinese stainless that sharpens easily and resists rust well, though it needs touching up more often than premium steels. Stainless scales are durable and easy to clean, though heavier than polymer.
At under two and a half inches this is a compact everyday carry knife: light in the pocket, unobtrusive, and legal to carry in more places than a larger blade.
Carry laws are set locally as well as by state, and a 1.7" blade is legal to carry in many places and not in others – check your state and city rules before you carry it. Knives ship directly to you with no FFL transfer and no background check, unlike a firearm. Keep the blade dry and the pivot clean, and touch the edge up on a strop or fine stone before it gets properly dull – it is far less work than bringing back a blunt edge.
Use it to attach the Antic to a keychain or as a lanyard attachment. In addition, the ring also provides enhanced ergonomics. Slide your pinkie through the ring for a karambit-style grip. And while karambit knives are usually very aggressive self-defense tools, with the Antic, you can enjoy this knife style in a casual, pocket-friendly format. And unlike a strictly self-defense knife, the Antic offers other tools, too. The end of the ring is flat head screwdriver, which also doubles as a mini prybar. There's even a cleverly-placed bottle opener at the end of the back handle.
