The grip sets how the hand meets the gun – angle, circumference and texture. It is the most personal part on a rifle and the cheapest to change.
Grip angle changes wrist position, which matters most on a rifle held high in a modern stance. Texture is a trade: aggressive texture holds in the wet and wears on bare hands.
AR-pattern grips fit AR-pattern receivers. Grips for other platforms are specific to them.
