Description
A Suppressor Alignment Gage verifies that a suppressor lines up with the bore. It matters because the suppressor is far longer than the barrel/muzzle device/suppressor interface: a small deviation at the mount becomes a much larger one at the suppressor’s exit hole, and deviations can be additive.
The gage is hardened steel ground 0.002″ under nominal bore diameter, finished straight to 0.001″ over its length. Hardening stops it wearing against abrasive powder residue, pulling burrs on misaligned baffles, or letting abrasive particles embed in its surface.
Bore diameters and straightness vary between barrels. 0.002″ under nominal fits most; the gage’s length is what aligns it to the bore, so a very tight fit is not needed.
