The Spyderco Ladybug 3 folder features a 1.94" VG-10 stainless blade, clip point, serrated edge, FRN handle, black finish.
The blade is VG-10 SS, a Japanese high-carbon stainless that takes a very fine edge, holds it well, and resists corrosion – a long-standing favourite for folding knives. A serrated edge bites into rope, webbing and fibrous material far better than a plain edge, and stays aggressive long after a plain edge has dulled. FRN keeps the weight and the price down while staying tough and textured in hand.
At under two and a half inches this is a compact everyday carry knife: light in the pocket, unobtrusive, and legal to carry in more places than a larger blade.
Carry laws are set locally as well as by state, and a 1.94" blade is legal to carry in many places and not in others – check your state and city rules before you carry it. Knives ship directly to you with no FFL transfer and no background check, unlike a firearm. Keep the blade dry and the pivot clean, and touch the edge up on a strop or fine stone before it gets properly dull – it is far less work than bringing back a blunt edge.
One of Spyderco's smallest lightweight locking knife is the Ladybug. Made of VG-10 stainless steel, the hollow ground blade comes in a SpyderEdge configuration. This modified clip-point blade style is matched up with a black, lightweight handle of fiberglass-reinforced nylon resin making the entire knife weigh only 0.6 of an ounce (16.4 grams). The LBK3 doesn't have a clip but rather a lanyard hole for attachment to a keychain or lanyard.
