The Spyderco Para 3 folding knife features a 2.95" CPM S45VN stainless blade, plain edge, G-10 handle, black finish.
The blade is CPM S45VN SS, a premium American powder steel that improves on S35VN with better corrosion resistance and edge retention – among the best all-round folder steels made. A plain edge makes clean push cuts and slices, and it is the easier edge to resharpen in the field. G-10 is a fiberglass laminate: light, dimensionally stable, and grippy even wet.
Around three inches is the everyday carry sweet spot – long enough for boxes, cord, food prep and general utility, short enough to disappear in a pocket.
Carry laws are set locally as well as by state, and a 2.95" blade is legal to carry in many places and not in others – check your state and city rules before you carry it. Knives ship directly to you with no FFL transfer and no background check, unlike a firearm. Keep the blade dry and the pivot clean, and touch the edge up on a strop or fine stone before it gets properly dull – it is far less work than bringing back a blunt edge.
