The Spyderco Shaman features a 3.58" CPM S30V stainless blade, clip point, plain edge, textured G-10 handle, black finish.
The blade is CPM S30V SS, an American powder-metallurgy stainless that offers excellent edge retention and toughness, at the cost of more effort to resharpen. G-10 is a fiberglass laminate: light, dimensionally stable, and grippy even wet.
A blade in this range handles heavier everyday tasks and light outdoor work while still carrying comfortably clipped in a pocket.
Carry laws are set locally as well as by state, and a 3.58" blade is legal to carry in many places and not in others – check your state and city rules before you carry it. Knives ship directly to you with no FFL transfer and no background check, unlike a firearm. Keep the blade dry and the pivot clean, and touch the edge up on a strop or fine stone before it gets properly dull – it is far less work than bringing back a blunt edge.
The Shaman is a hand-filling, no-nonsense folding knife based on the proven design theme of the iconic Spyderco Native. About 20 percent larger than the Native, it offers the same refined ergonomics, as well as a few significant differences. Its signature Trademark Round Hole is fully accessible from both sides to support swift, one-handed opening with either hand. The scales are 3-D machined from G-10 and thoughtfully contoured to provide a comfortable, secure grip. Skeletonized stainless steel liners nested within the smooth, matte-finished scales reinforce the handles structural strength and form the basis of the knifes Compression Lockmechanism. To ensure convenient carry and keep the knife poised for immediate access, the handle includes a four-position pocket clip that supports left or right-side, tip-up or tip-down carry. Like the blade, the clip and all handle hardware feature a non-reflective matte black coating.
