Description
The SOG S.O.G Escape features a 3.40" 9Cr18MoV stainless blade, clip point, serrated edge, aluminum handle, black finish.
The blade is 9Cr18MoV SS, a higher-carbon Chinese stainless that holds an edge noticeably longer than 8Cr13MoV while staying easy to maintain. A serrated edge bites into rope, webbing and fibrous material far better than a plain edge, and stays aggressive long after a plain edge has dulled. Stainless scales are durable and easy to clean, though heavier than polymer.
A blade in this range handles heavier everyday tasks and light outdoor work while still carrying comfortably clipped in a pocket.
Carry laws are set locally as well as by state, and a 3.4" blade is legal to carry in many places and not in others – check your state and city rules before you carry it. Knives ship directly to you with no FFL transfer and no background check, unlike a firearm. Keep the blade dry and the pivot clean, and touch the edge up on a strop or fine stone before it gets properly dull – it is far less work than bringing back a blunt edge.
The Escape is the perfect size folding knife for everyday carry but still has a tremendous amount of capability with its one hand-opening blade. Integrated in the handle is a line cutter (perfect for cutting cord, string, seat belts, etc.), a glass breaker for extreme emergencies, our patent-pending wire stripper and extra line cutter blades (which are stored under the handle slab).
