The Ruger / Sturm, Ruger & Co. 77/44 is a bolt action in .44 Magnum with a 16.6" barrel, a 1:20 twist and 4-round capacity plus one chambered.
This barrel length is a common compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge's velocity while staying manageable to carry. Twist rate determines which bullet weights stabilize: a faster twist favors heavier, longer projectiles. It comes with a gold bead : front sight and a adjustable rear sight.
The .44 Magnum is commonly chosen for handgun hunting and large game defense. Heavy recoil, and generally more cartridge than most shooters want for practice volume.
