The CANIK Ext Mag Catch Assembly is a firearm control.
Slide catches, bolt releases and magazine catches are the controls you work without changing grip. Extended or reshaped versions move the contact surface closer to where the thumb already sits.
A larger control is easier to find and easier to hit by accident. On a carry gun that trade matters – an oversized magazine release against a holster or a car seat can drop a magazine.
Controls are model-specific, often down to the generation. Function-check the gun unloaded after fitting one.
