The Iver Johnson 1911 Eagle Xl Ds is a semi-auto in .45 ACP with a 6" barrel and 13-round capacity plus one chambered.

A carbine-length barrel keeps the pistol maneuverable, trading some velocity for handling.

The .45 ACP is commonly chosen for range use, competition and carry. A large, slow bullet with mild muzzle blast; magazines hold fewer rounds than a comparable 9mm.
