The Thompson Center Arms, LLC Bore Cleaner is a solvent.

Solvent dissolves fouling – carbon, and with the right formulation copper left in the rifling by jacketed bullets. It is for cleaning, not for protection: solvent left on steel is not a rust preventative.

Clean from the chamber toward the muzzle where the design allows it. Dragging a rod back and forth across the crown – the last fraction of an inch of rifling at the muzzle – is one of the few ways cleaning can measurably harm a barrel.
