The Cimarron Firearms 1866 Yellowboy 38SP is a lever action in .38 Special with a 24" barrel, a 1:18.5 twist and 12-round capacity.

A long barrel gives the cartridge room to build velocity, at the cost of handling in tight spaces and some added weight. Twist rate determines which bullet weights stabilize: a faster twist favors heavier, longer projectiles. It comes with yes sights.

The .38 Special is commonly chosen for revolver practice and carry. Mild recoil and long-established, which is why it remains a common first revolver cartridge.
