The Spyderco Manix 2 Xl features a 3.85" CPM S30V stainless blade, clip point, plain edge, textured G-10 handle, black finish.
The blade is CPM S30V SS, an American powder-metallurgy stainless that offers excellent edge retention and toughness, at the cost of more effort to resharpen. G-10 is a fiberglass laminate: light, dimensionally stable, and grippy even wet.
A blade in this range handles heavier everyday tasks and light outdoor work while still carrying comfortably clipped in a pocket.
Carry laws are set locally as well as by state, and a 3.85" blade is legal to carry in many places and not in others – check your state and city rules before you carry it. Knives ship directly to you with no FFL transfer and no background check, unlike a firearm. Keep the blade dry and the pivot clean, and touch the edge up on a strop or fine stone before it gets properly dull – it is far less work than bringing back a blunt edge.
Intended for tactical applications where light discipline is a concern, the all-black Manix 2 XL features a durable Diamond-Like Carbon blade coating and blackened liners, clip and handle hardware. These coatings provide a low-profile, non-reflective finish to the Manix 2 XL. Flat ground from premium CPM S30V stainless steel, its 3.86" blade is slightly longer and 25 percent thinner than that of the Manix. These subtle changes enhance its cutting performance by reducing drag and help reduce the knifes weight. Improved jimping on the thumb ramp and forefinger choil provide enhanced control and a large 14mm Trademark Spyderco Hole makes one-handed deployment a breeze, even while wearing gloves. A reversible hourglass clip supports left or right-side tip-up carry and a lined lanyard hole allows the attachment of fobs and lanyards.
