The Weatherby 307 Alpine is a bolt-action rifle in 338 RPM with a 24" barrel.
A long barrel gives the cartridge room to build velocity, at the cost of handling in tight spaces and some added weight.
The 338 RPM is commonly chosen for extreme long-range shooting. Heavy, expensive and hard-recoiling, chosen when reach outweighs comfort.
