Description
The Anschutz D Hb is a bolt action in .17 HMR with a 20" barrel, a 1:9 twist and 5-round capacity.
This is a conventional rimfire barrel length. Rimfire powder is fully burnt well before the muzzle, so extra length adds sight radius and weight rather than velocity. That is the standard twist for this cartridge, and it stabilizes the bullet weights most factory ammunition is loaded with. It ships without iron sights, so budget for an optic, rings and a base if you do not already have them.
The .17 HMR is commonly chosen for small game and varmints at extended range. It shoots much flatter than .22 LR at the cost of ammunition price.
