Description
The Barrett Firearms 99 is a bolt action in .50 BMG with a 29" barrel, a 1:15 twist and 1-round capacity.
A long barrel gives the cartridge room to build velocity, at the cost of handling in tight spaces and some added weight. Twist rate determines which bullet weights stabilize: a faster twist favors heavier, longer projectiles. It ships without iron sights, so budget for an optic, rings and a base if you do not already have them.
The .50 BMG is commonly chosen for extreme long-range and recreational shooting. Rifle, ammunition and everything around it are expensive.
