The Barrett Firearms MRAD is a bolt action in .308 / 7.62 NATO with a 22" barrel, a 1:8 twist and 10-round capacity plus one chambered.
This barrel length is a common compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge's velocity while staying manageable to carry. That is faster than the usual twist for this cartridge, which suits the heavier, longer bullets distance shooters tend to favor. It comes optic ready, so it is ready to take an optic without extra machining.
The .308 is commonly chosen for hunting, target shooting and general use. Probably the most versatile centerfire cartridge available – ammunition is everywhere, and it handles most North American game.
