Description
The Burn Proof Gear suppressor cover, 4.5" long by 1.6" in diameter, in black.
A suppressor cover insulates the can. It keeps the heat coming off a suppressor away from the shooter and the handguard, and it cuts the mirage rising off a hot tube that otherwise sits in front of the optic.
This cover is made from Kevlar and is heat rated to 1000 F. That rating covers both semi-automatic and full-automatic use.
Every cover carries internal FR sleeving with an operating temperature of 1200 F, which shields the cover from heat coming straight off the tube.
Suppressors get hot faster than people expect: with 5.56 NATO a can gains roughly 7 F per round fired. Burn Proof's guidance is to let the suppressor and cover cool after about 90 rounds in rapid succession, and as a simple rule, if it is too hot to touch, let it cool before handling it.
For high-volume or full-auto shooting the FR sleeving can be doubled up. That adds insulation, but it also increases the diameter – so it will change how the cover fits.
Sizing is specific: this one is cut for a suppressor about 4.5" long and 1.6" across. A cover that is too short leaves tube exposed, and one that is too tight will not go on.
Listed as fitting: FLOW 556/6K.
A cover is not a regulated item and ships directly to your address – the suppressor it goes on is the registered part.
