The Bushnell R5 is a 3-9x riflescope with a 40mm objective.
This range covers the distances most hunting shots are taken at, and keeps a usable field of view at the bottom end for a close or moving animal.
The 40mm objective sets how much light the scope can gather and how tall the rings need to be to clear the bell.
Eye relief is listed at 3.90" – the distance the eye sits behind the ocular to see the full picture, which is what has to be respected when positioning the scope in the rings.
