The Century Arms AP5 is a semi-auto in 9mm with a 5.75" barrel, a 1:9.8 twist and 30-round capacity plus one chambered.

A carbine-length barrel keeps the pistol maneuverable, trading some velocity for handling. It comes with adjustable sights. The slide is cut for a red dot, so an optic mounts without machining. The optic and, on most models, a mounting plate are bought separately, and the plate has to match the footprint your optic uses.

The 9mm is commonly chosen for range practice, competition and carry. The most widely available centerfire handgun round, which keeps practice affordable and ammunition easy to find.
