Description
The Connecticut Valley Arms / CVA Cascade Sb Tac is a bolt action in .223 REM/5.56 NATO with an 18" barrel, a 1:9 twist and 4-round capacity plus one chambered.
This barrel length is a common compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge's velocity while staying manageable to carry. That is slower than the usual twist for this cartridge, so it favors lighter bullets; very heavy projectiles may not stabilize. It ships without iron sights, so budget for an optic, rings and a base if you do not already have them.
The .223 REM is commonly chosen for varmints, predators and target work. Cheap, widely available and light on recoil, which makes it an easy cartridge to shoot well.
