The FN America / FN Herstal FN 509 Midsize MRD is a semi-auto in 9mm with a 4" barrel, a 1:10 twist and 10-round capacity plus one chambered.

A barrel this short keeps the pistol easy to conceal and carry, at the cost of some velocity and a shorter sight radius. It comes with black co-witness iron sights.

The 9mm is commonly chosen for range practice, competition and carry. The most widely available centerfire handgun round, which keeps practice affordable and ammunition easy to find.
