The Ruger / Sturm, Ruger & Co. Model A is a bolt action in .270 Winchester with a 20" barrel, a 1:10 twist and 4-round capacity plus one chambered.

This barrel length is a common compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge's velocity while staying manageable to carry. That is the standard twist for this cartridge, and it stabilizes the bullet weights most factory ammunition is loaded with. It comes picatinny scope base installed, so it is ready to take an optic without extra machining.

The .270 Winchester is commonly chosen for deer, antelope and open-country hunting. A long-standing flat-shooting hunting cartridge.
