The Heckler & Koch / H&K MR762 A4 is a semi-auto in .308 / 7.62 NATO with a 13" barrel, a 1:11 twist and 20-round capacity.

A carbine-length barrel keeps the pistol maneuverable, trading some velocity for handling. It ships without iron sights, so budget for an optic, rings and a base if you do not already have them.

The .308 is commonly chosen for hunting, target shooting and general use. Probably the most versatile centerfire cartridge available – ammunition is everywhere, and it handles most North American game.
