The Horizon Firearms Vandal Carbon 2 280 is a bolt action in .280 Ackley Improved with a 22" barrel and a 1:8 twist.

This barrel length is a common compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge's velocity while staying manageable to carry. Twist rate determines which bullet weights stabilize: a faster twist favors heavier, longer projectiles.
