Description

The Kaw Valley Precision Heavy H3 is a buffer system component, H3, about 5.4 oz, 5.4 oz.

The buffer and spring absorb the bolt carrier at the back of its travel and drive it forward again. Together they set how the rifle cycles.

H, H2 and H3 are increasing buffer weights – roughly 3.8, 4.6 and 5.4 ounces against a standard carbine buffer's 3. Going heavier slows the carrier, which is how an over-gassed rifle is settled down; too heavy and it stops cycling reliably.

Buffer weight is a tuning part: a heavier buffer slows the carrier, which is how an over-gassed rifle – a suppressed one, commonly – is brought back into balance. Too heavy and the rifle short-strokes instead.

Buffer and tube have to match. Carbine, rifle and A5 lengths are different, and the wrong combination will not assemble or will not cycle.
