The Luth-AR Palm is an AR handguard.
A free-float handguard mounts to the barrel nut and does not touch the barrel anywhere else, so pressure from a sling or a bipod is not transferred into the barrel.
Handguard length has to suit the gas system and the barrel: the handguard must clear the gas block, and most makers supply their own barrel nut, so it is not always a straight swap between brands.
