The Phase 5 AR-15 is a bolt component.
The bolt locks the cartridge into the chamber and holds it there against firing pressure. It is the single most highly stressed part of the action.
Bolt heads are matched to a cartridge family by their face diameter and extractor – standard, magnum and short-magnum heads are different parts. Changing bolt head is how a switch-barrel rifle changes cartridge family.
Fitting a bolt or bolt head means checking headspace with gauges. That is gunsmithing, not a drop-in job, and it is not optional.
