The Proof Research Ascension 4+1 is a bolt action in .308 / 7.62 NATO with a 24" barrel, a 1:10 twist and 4-round capacity plus one chambered.

A long barrel gives the cartridge room to build velocity, at the cost of handling in tight spaces and some added weight. That is the standard twist for this cartridge, and it stabilizes the bullet weights most factory ammunition is loaded with.

The .308 is commonly chosen for hunting, target shooting and general use. Probably the most versatile centerfire cartridge available – ammunition is everywhere, and it handles most North American game.
