The Radian Weapons Rifle MDL 1 is a semi-auto in .223 REM/5.56 NATO with a 17.5" barrel and 30-round capacity.

This barrel length is a common compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge's velocity while staying manageable to carry. It ships without iron sights, so budget for an optic, rings and a base if you do not already have them.

The .223 REM is commonly chosen for varmints, predators and target work. Cheap, widely available and light on recoil, which makes it an easy cartridge to shoot well.
