Two numbers matter and they pull against each other: shelf life and calories. A stated shelf life assumes cool, dry, dark storage – heat shortens it considerably – and a serving count is not the same as a day's food, so check the calories per serving rather than the number of servings.
Most freeze-dried food needs water, and often hot water. Plan for that alongside the food itself.
