Description
The Savage Axis 2 Pro is a bolt action rifle in 6.5mm Creedmoor with a 20" barrel, a 1:8 twist and 4-round capacity plus one chambered.
This barrel length is the usual compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge's velocity while still being manageable to carry all day, and short enough that a suppressor on the end does not make it unwieldy. That is the standard twist for this cartridge, and it stabilizes the bullet weights most factory ammunition is loaded with. It ships without iron sights, so plan on an optic and a way to mount it: a red dot or holographic sits on a rail, a scope needs rings and a base, and a rifle with neither needs a mount first.
The 6.5mm Creedmoor is commonly chosen for long-range target shooting and deer-sized game. It became the default precision cartridge because it delivers high-BC bullets with modest recoil and good barrel life.
The all-new AXIS 2 PRO offers hunters even better out-of-the-box performance at the same affordable price. In addition to a new look with improved ergonomics, the AXIS 2 PRO is loaded with features that deliver tack-driving accuracy on every shot, including the user-adjustable AccuTrigger, and thread-in headspacing. These PRO models also showcase the Savage camo patterns, Western along with Cerakote finishes to outlast the elements. Add a threaded barrel and a one-piece rail, and these rifles are ready to get to the range and into the field. An updated bolt handle with a sleek, ergonomic design delivers on functionality. This bolt handle will help to enhance user control and comfort during operation, especially in adverse conditions like rain or cold weather.
