Description
The Savage is a bolt action rifle in .22 Magnum with a 21" barrel, a 1:16 twist and 5-round capacity.
This is a conventional rimfire barrel length. Rimfire powder is fully burnt well before the muzzle, so extra length adds sight radius and weight rather than velocity. Twist rate determines which bullet weights stabilize: a faster twist favors heavier, longer projectiles. It ships without iron sights, so plan on an optic and a way to mount it: a red dot or holographic sits on a rail, a scope needs rings and a base, and a rifle with neither needs a mount first.
The .22 Magnum is commonly chosen for small game and varmints. It bridges the gap between .22 LR and a centerfire varmint round.
