Savage Arms 32140 Axis 2 Compact 400 Legend 4+1 20″ Matte Black Heavy Sporter Barrel, Matte Black Drilled & Tapped Carbon Steel Receiver, Fixed Flat Dark Earth Synthetic Stock, Left Hand

Description

The Savage Arms Axis 2 Compact is a bolt action in .400 Legend with a 20" barrel, a 1:16 twist and 4-round capacity plus one chambered.

This barrel length is a common compromise: enough to develop most of the cartridge's velocity while staying manageable to carry. Twist rate determines which bullet weights stabilize: a faster twist favors heavier, longer projectiles.

The .400 Legend is commonly chosen for deer hunting in straight-wall cartridge states. These exist to satisfy regulations that prohibit bottleneck rifle cartridges for deer.

This is a serialized firearm. It ships to a licensed dealer near you rather than to your door, and you complete the transfer there with a Form 4473 and a background check. State and local rules govern what can be shipped where, so check yours before ordering – and if you are unsure, ask us first.

The all-new redesigned AXIS 2 Compact Model offers hunters even better out-of-the-box performance at the same affordable price. In addition to a new look with improved ergonomics, the AXIS 2 Compact is loaded with features that deliver tack-driving accuracy on every shot, including the user-adjustable AccuTrigger, and thread-in headspacing. The updated bolt handle with a sleek, ergonomic design delivers on functionality. This bolt handle will help to enhance user control and comfort during operation, especially in adverse conditions like rain or cold weather.
