Description

The Savage Axis 2 is a bolt action rifle in .300 AAC Blackout with a 16.125" barrel, a 1:8 twist and 4-round capacity plus one chambered.

This is a left-hand action: the bolt handle and ejection port are on the left side, laid out for a left-handed shooter. At this length it is easier to work in thick cover or from a blind, trading some velocity for the handling. That is the standard twist for this cartridge, and it stabilizes the bullet weights most factory ammunition is loaded with. It ships without iron sights, so plan on an optic and a way to mount it: a red dot or holographic sits on a rail, a scope needs rings and a base, and a rifle with neither needs a mount first.

The .300 AAC Blackout is commonly chosen for short-range work and suppressed shooting. It was designed to run subsonic loads well through a suppressor.
